Ta-DA!
Me and Simba hanging out in the back yard.
And back inside again.
Maybe I'll hang it on the wall and take a pic with a better perspective.
~*~
Here's a scanned in version.
Now it's high time to wrap him up and send him on his way. 8-]

Tacky
Tacking the back together ~ cotton over batting over a picture frame backing.
The front, with Simba placed, ready to tack down.
I'll actually put the frame together before I tack Simba down, so I won't have any pulling out of shape.
~*~
What it'll look like (not sewn down yet).
Attaching hanging hardware.

Finally. Tacking Simba down. 8-]

Test Shot
Here's a test shot of what Simba will look like in his frame.
I bought a smaller frame ~ Simba was dwarfed by the larger one, and this size is more suitable to a baby's room anyway.
Time to cut, wrap and tape (or sew). I'll see which works better.

Wet It and Set It
Blocking Simba now. Added pins along the sides to keep the tapestry from pulling in as it dries.
~*~
Simba's dry now from his bath. Time to pull the pins out and finish off all the loose threads.
I've bought backing material and quilt padding for the mounting. Also a nice frame in a reddish brown that sets off Simba nicely.
Loose threads tucked.
Tapestry doesn't pull in on the right side. It is being deformed by the large moon button in the scanner. ;- j

Signature E
I tried my usual spiral signature e but I had to go with the more square-shaped E. Looks pretty good. I'll mount and frame it next.

Almost There
Working in the auditorium at Schuyler House today. A good 4 hours' work.
Closing in on it. 8-] Then some more fiddly bits before it's done.

Foliage & Body Work
Working up from the bottom.
Foliage and the body. Fiddly 'cuz it's getting tight.
~*~
Body work today. Narrowing the gap.

Time for a lunch break.

And Unmessy Again
I like the lighter muzzle color much better. Now I'm working on the foliage (bottom up). Now I work toward the middle and fill in where needed.
~*~
Moving in on it.
~*~
Foliage and sundry.

Messy Again
Decided I didn't want to use the same color for the muzzle, so I picked it out and will reweave it. Par for the course.

Less Messy
Simba's coming along. 8-]
~*~
Face almost done. The pinky of the nose and mouth is a soft yarn and easily squashed. I'll have to adjust facial dimensions at some point.
~*~
About to start on the foliage. Move up from the bottom.

Lion Cub - Messy Stage
Simba's at that messy stage where all his strings are hanging out. Also the face is being finicky (as I knew it would be). Lots of unweaving being done.
~*~
Almost as much unweaving as weaving this session.
~*~
Here's looking at you kid. ;- j Working on an eyeball today. Lots of unweaving but I think I've got it now.
~*~
~*~
More tuck-tucking. He cleans up pretty good. ;- j
A tad more weaving and tucking.

Weave, Weave, Weave
It's in the ugly stage. Pushing thru.
~*~
Not so ugly today. Just a little unweaving. The fiddlier the detail, the more unweaving is necessary to get it right.
~*~
A couple more hours of weaving.
~*~
And another hour or so. Time to break and get some grocs for dinner.
~*~
Another day, another couple of hours.

Lion King Blue Sky - Weaving
Weaving begins. Very nice little weft packer. Beads pushed out of the way while weaving.
~*~
A couple hours more weaving. Almost to the first star position.
~*~
A couple more hours. Time to switch gears and think about the lion cub now.
~*~
Another hour or so.
~*~
Working on the lion cub. Trying out some ideas.

LK Mini-Tapestry
What if I put Simba in front of one of my swirly skies? My own touch on the theme.
I can even put a button moon in the pic. ;-]
Instead of a cloud it can be a lion cub. Stars and moon work ok. Maybe bead eyes for the cub.
This one's a kewtie. I can make him look a little more like Simba. I'm liking this. 8-]
I can have a bead fringe if I want one -- doesn't have to be rain or water, just a bead fringe. Think about that one.

New Tapestry - Lion King Ideas
Tossing around ideas for a new tapestry. This one as a baby gift for David & Kenzie for Austin. A little time yet, but you know how that goes. Aug. 12 will be here in no time.
So, the theme for the baby's room is Lion King. I'm assuming the Disney version, but I could go with the Broadway version if something catches my fancy.
Disney version
Broadway version
Ooh, this is a nice one.
Meercats
And so is this one.
Staging
The staging lends itself verry nicely to tapestry motifs.
Gazelles
Tree
Gazelle
I'm liking a gazelle, perhaps in front of the iconic sun/moon?
The meercats are kinda kewt too.
~*~
Googling lion cubs now. I can cartoon it up a bit, with a circle motif behind. Nice and graphical.
