Off the Loom

Woo-hoo!  Off the loom.  Still have to add the shiny bauble in Ravenpaw's maw.  And deal with the fringe.

Simple fringe technique from Rebecca Mezoff's tapestry site.

Not bad.  It'll get neater with practice.  Still needs shiny bauble.

Plexi Loom

Easy to work with.  If the threads get out of line they can be scooted back where they belong.  Cartoon is easy to remove and easy to put back again.  I can check my progress.

Don't quite like the wing color.  Needs more lights and black accents.

Prospective New Subject

Thinking of doing a chimera next:  Ravenpaw.  Shiny Bauble.

Think I'll try weaving this tapestry sideways.

Also using a plexi loom.  I'll afix the cartoon to the back so it can be lifted to show the tapestry from the obverse.

Wrapped the warp on the plexi.  Cartoon behind plexi (removable?).

Warp & Woof

I'm considering calling the series Warp & Woof, instead of Woof Faced.

I watched a tutorial http://www.rebeccamezoff.com/blog/2017/10/12/how-to-mount-small-tapestries-so-they-look-great-and-sell-well on mounting on muslin/cotton batting/linen on stretcher boards.  That would work.  I want them all the same color, probably bleached or natural.

These two are approx. 6" sq.  With bead depending, more.  So perhaps 8"x10" stretcher bars; maybe just 8"x8" for the first one.

I prefer the second treatment.  Tho I might like the tapestry without a bead or tail.

Not bad.  Eye needs some work.  Fringe next.

I wove last night while Bill & Jan were off at fighter practice.  Kept me from noshing.  ;- j

Coming along nicely.  I won't know if the eye works until I look on the back.  Over half way there.

Woof II Weaving

Too Ood like.  I unpicked the muzzle.

Better.

Not liking the thick black line.  Might unpick it and use something finer.

There, that's better.  I unpicked the heavy line and rewove it with finer yarn.
