Mug Rugs

Weaving a set of mug rugs on a sample loom ~ a canvas board for oil painting ~ they make great weaving sample and class loom because they have tooth that holds the yarns in place.

Badge in Progress ~ Wearable Art

Added a couple beads to make a moth/butterfly.  Changed the trail to match color with the critter.

Can't quite see the detail in the weaving.

Badge Mini-Tapestry

Not a name tag per se, but a personalized artistic badge to wear to Loscon and others.

I'm adding a moth/butterfly.

Facescape ~ Trimmed

Facescape:  Moth to Flame

Pretty light-weight for its size.  I may tack it down to a background in lieu of attaching loops.

Or...what if I quilted it, complete with a narrow border?

Dry

Looks dry to me.  Now I'll remove it from the board and trim all the loose ends.

Facescape Nearly Done

Embroidered the mouth and details in the luna moth.

Just about ready to wet & set.  Maybe a tweak or two first.

Stuffing and Tucking

First pass ~ all gaps closed.  I'll be stuffing in more thread where needed in a bit.  But first, time to tuck threads.

Tuck, tuck, tuck.

All tucked.  Time for a break.

Experimenting with eyelids.

Close-up.

Really Close

Really close.  Lots of fiddly bits yet.

Closing in on it

Just a couple large areas to fill in, then lots of stuffing here and there to shape up the design and even out the threads.

Also embroider the mouth.

The Messy Stage

I'll need to tuck some threads soon so I can see what I'm doing.  ;- j

I guess it's got to get messier before it can get neater.

My poor little messy "lion."

More Weaving

Weaving away.  Trading off between weaving and assigning fighter poems.

More Raveling on Facescape #1

It's starting to come together.  All the major elements are in there now.

Loki likes to help.  ;- ]

Time for a stretch break.

Need to lay off for the night.

Unraveling the Face

Sometimes you unweave more than you weave (technically I guess that's not possible, but I did do a lot of unweaving yesterday trying to get the face just so).  Not there yet, but better.

The black line was too thick so I reworked it in a finer thread.

Now I'm battling with the mouth.

Time to move onto another portion of the tapestry before I get too frustrated.

Facescape

The lines might be a little too thick on the face.  I'll try swapping them out for something finer.

Facescapes ~ sketches

I've started a new mini-tapestry.  I call the theme facescapes.  Here are a couple of pastel sketches.

This is more or less the composition I'm going with.

Luna Luce

Hanging on the wall.  I'll start making the grouping shortly with Lucy's pieces.

Weaving Tabs

Wove tabs to hang the tapestry.  Attached them to the top.  Could have been longer, but this will do.  I'll have to dye or stain a dowel about that size.  Should work just fine.
